Special Projects

Artists Walk

Alongside the residency programme VARC initiates special projects. With these VARC hopes to achieve its aims and extend these in particular ways.

It hopes its special projects will continue to:

- Promote the understanding and enjoyment of visual arts in rural communities through contact with an artist, through creative workshops and through mounting exhibitions in the area.

- Provide an artist a unique opportunity to develop his or her practice in an isolated rural community.

- Bring artists and local people together to make new artwork (as individuals and as a whole) in a way that explores, expresses and celebrates the special qualities of the Tarset landscape and community.

In the past special projects have been supported by Arts Council England and by Northumberland National Park Authority's Sustainable Development Fund.

Sustainable Development in and around Northumberland National Park is about promoting ways of living and working that allows people to enjoy life, businesses to prosper and communities to thrive.  At the same time it is about enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park and affording opportunities for understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities by the public.   If you would like to know more about Northumberland National Park please see link to its website on the Links page.
