School Projects
VARC has welcomed school groups to Highgreen for arts activities on numerous occasions over the years. And artists in residence have led workshops in local schools. However VARC has special relationships with two special schools for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders; Thomas Bewick School in Newcastle and Thornhill School in Sunderland. VARC enables arts projects to take place in these schools that bring some different creative experience to those the schools can provide through the curriculum.
VARC is currently working with Thornhill School. 2011-2012 it will work with staff from Thomas Bewick School to provide an arts project there.
